Point Breeze Garden Driveway and Exterior Improvements
Pittsburgh, PA
Design Concept
A garden driveway and reimagined façade transforms a family’s historic urban house.
This project transforms a vacant side yard into a beautiful garden driveway, perfectly suited to a family’s lifestyle.
The design includes a masterplanning study of the property to understand zoning restrictions on accessory structures, fences, and features, allowing the homeowners to strategically plan, coordinate, and prioritize investments in their property.
The garden driveway provides much-needed vehicular access and off-street parking, meeting practical needs. Further, sustainability and aesthetic objectives are achieved by integration of planted areas, including a center strip of planted, permeable geometric paving.
The outdated masonry porch is replaced by a classic wood-columned porch to match the style of the house. Additionally, the house’s exterior is improved by repairing historic elements and offering color scheme options to restore its original appearance.
“Fishman Architecture was a joy to work with. Throughout the process we were confident that our requests were being heard and taken into consideration. The result was a highly-detailed plan which enhances the beauty of our house to its fullest potential.”
