AAA Century III
Pittsburgh, PA
Completed 2018
An expanded home and new face for a well-known auto club.
This addition and renovation to the busy AAA Century III location in Pleasant Hills allowed the auto services provider to meet customer demand and remain operational during construction, and ultimately improve the customer experience. Thanks to a multi-phased approach and close coordination between the design team, the store’s executive management, and the contractor, construction occurred with minimal disruption to AAA’s daily services.
The new main facade is designed to clearly indicate the building’s main entrance, as the site provides an accessible path from parking to the interior. The tan brick color is drawn from the existing building’s tan stucco, making the new facade familiar and friendly to longtime customers. Clearstory glazing is employed to admit daylight into the interior spaces while leaving stretches of solid wall around the perimeter to accommodate workstations.
Interior spaces are characterized by abundant natural light, oversized pendant fixtures, and warm cherry paneling, combining a traditional feel with modern styling.
